What are PDO Threads

This is a suture material similar to those used when stitching the skin after injuries, but much thinner.  This special material allows us to perform a non-surgical facelift.

Non-surgical Facelift with PDO Threads

Areas commonly treated

We use this technique to treat the following:

  • Forehead

  • Eyebrows for lifting effect

  • Jowls

  • Jawline

  • Neck

How threads work

Threads correct facial contour quickly and non-surgically.  It is a cost-effective alternative to the traditional surgical facelift with less down time.

PDO threads create a mesh under the skin which strengthens the skins attachment to the underlying layers.  This improves the skins structural support and helps reduce loose or sagging skin caused by aging.  This provides a subtle but visible lifting effect, which still looks natural.

The threads also stimulate a wound healing cascade.  This includes an increase in the number and activity of fibroblasts, which leads to increased collagen formation in the skin.

A fine needle is used to insert the thread into the skin.  The area where the needle enters the skin is numbed with a numbing cream or injection.

The thread weaved into place by your doctor.  This may cause slight discomfort but is usually quite tolerable.

The needle is removed, leaving the thread in place under the skin.  There are no stitches or cuts involved and no scars are left.

The thread tends to lift the sagging areas of skin.

Procedure

Post procedure care

This procedure is minimally invasive and has few side effects.  There is an immediate, visible effect which continues to improve over the month after your session.  â€‹â€‹

  • Try to avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin, grandpa and voltaren after your procedure as this interferes with the inflammatory processes of wound healing.

  • For mild pain or discomfort post procedure, panado will be best.

  • You may use an ice pack

  • Avoid vitamin C and E for 7 days

  • You do not need to limit your facial expressions after having threads inserted but avoid direct pressure on the face.

  • No cutting, stitches or scars

  • Natural long lasting results

  • Quick procedure

How long does it last

The threads are absorbable which means they will dissolve in the skin over a period of 4 - 6 months.  This is how long your facelift effect will last.

Some results are visible immediately but continue to improve over the following months.

There is an overall improvement in appearance of the texture and laxity of the skin.

Cost

Cost is determined according to the number of threads used, which depends on the desired effect and extent of sagging skin / jowls etc.
